Modim (We Give Thanks)

This is the most ancient of the prayers in this project. It is a part of the Shimoneh Esrei liturgy which is also referred to as the Amidah or “Standing Prayer,” which is prayed three times daily by devout Jews. These prayers date back in some form to Ezra and the men of the Great Assembly after the return of the Jewish exiles from Babylon. A version of this prayer was in use at the time of Yeshua and would have been something He prayed as part of liturgical worship in the Temple. The Siddur Project CD cover painting features a siddur/prayer book with the Hebrew words of the Modim releasing revelation, light, and glory as the prayer ascends to G-d.
